General Assembly Legislative Correspondent

Calling upon dedicated volunteers who want to help keep a close watch on all of the proposed bills that impact the lives of Hamilton County residents.

The Indiana General Assembly has a short session of only 90 days. This means that an already fast and furious process of bill introduction, committee consideration, and voting is that much more difficult to track in our state.

The Hamilton County Democratic Party wants every citizen to be better informed so that they can be more engaged participants in their own democracy. That can only be accomplished through education.

We need a few key volunteers who want to help keep a close watch on all of the proposed bills that impact the lives of Hamilton County residents.

  • Have a firm finger on the pulse of the General Assembly Session (January–March).

  • Monitor the government website for new proposed bills.

  • Attend or watch livestream/recorded videos of the most pressing house and senate hearings.

  • Do additional digging on details that could be confusing to the average citizen.

  • Keep the HamCo Dems Communications Committee members apprised of “ones to watch.”

  • Help us put confusing language into layperson’s terms so that we can disseminate the information through our communication channels more effectively.
